A U.S. Army soldier from Spartanburg has reportedly pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of a friend and fellow soldier, WSPA reports.
Spec. Patrick Edward Myers, who is stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas, said he accidentally shot Pfc. Isaac Lawrence, 22, in September in an attempt to scare away a case of hiccups while watching a football game, in a Killeen, Texas apartment. Myers said he thought the gun contained dummy rounds.
Myers was reportedly sentenced to 3 1/2 years in military prison and had his rank reduced. He also will receive a bad-conduct discharge, according to the report.
