The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the sheriffs of Abbeville, Anderson, Oconee and Pickens counties to provide Upstate residents with an "Explosives Amnesty Week" later this month.

From Oct. 22-26, residents of Greenville County can call the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number, (864) 271-5210, to have any explosives, ammunition, weapons, bomb materials or military ordnance removed from their property.

Certified bomb technicians from the sheriff’s office or SLED will then respond to remove and destroy the hazardous materials.

Collections will take place daily between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Greenville County dispatchers will request information about the materials to be collected to include the address where the materials are stored. But residents will not be required to provide their names. And, no criminal charges related to any hazardous materials reported or collected will be filed against residents who participate, the sherif's office said.
