An Upstate security guard has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this month at a Wade Hampton Boulevard hotel, according to Greenville Sheriff's deputies.
Stephen Arthur Harry, 50, was arrested Monday and charged with murder in a March 13 shooting that killed of 28-year-old Ledrekuis Fontex Sloan.
Sloan was shot in his vehicle outside Savannah Suites. Investigators said deadly force was not an appropriate response, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office.
At the time of the shooting, Harry was employed as a security guard for Savannah Suites through AP Professional Security, LLC. The security company said in a released statement, Harry came to the company as an "experienced
armed S.L.E.D. certified Officer and has been an exemplary employee."

"We are always grieved to hear that a person's life has been lost during the process of a Security Officer attempting to prevent loss of life and property," the release from AP Professional Security. Our sympathy is extended to the family of the individual who lost his life in this shooting.
We can Confirm that Officer Steve Harry came to our Company as an experienced armed S.L.E.D. certified Officer and has been an exemplary employee.
We have cooperated fully with Law Enforcement during this investigation and We will continue to do so in the future. In that the investigation has not been completed we will have no further comment at this time."
Harry is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on no bond.
