When I was a kid, I was more interested in the toys that came with my Easter basket every year than the sweet treats inside.
Don't get me wrong, I still loved the candy – the jelly beans, the chocolate bunnies (you have to eat the ears first.) But the toys always seemed so cool. Hot Wheels, army men and little buckets and shovels are just cooler when they're in an Easter basket. And that fake grass stuff found a new life as a forest or jungle for my G.I. Joes.
These days, when it comes to Easter treats, I'm all about the sweets.
Valentine's Day was barely over before the Easter candy hit the shelves this year.
I'm a sucker for Cadbury crème eggs myself.
Many people love Marshmallow Peeps, but I've never developed a taste for them myself. A lot of people swear that they're better when they're a little stale. Is that true?
The problem with Easter candy is it's hard to know when to stop inhaling them.
The folks at Glamour Magazine are raining on my Easter snacking parade by telling me what 100 calories of some favorite Easter candies actually looks like.
Here's where Peeps fans win out. 100 calories gets you 3 ½ Peeps, while I don't even get an entire Cadbury Crème Egg.
What's your favorite Easter candy or treat? As a kid, what did you like to find in your Easter basket?
