Congratulations to the Mauldin High School Marching Band!

The Marching Mavs earned the Grand Champion trophy at the Porter Ridge High School Band Competition in North Carolina on Saturday, Oct. 27, adding another top honor to their trophy case (see Youtube clip above of their performance).

The band had the highest color guard, percussion, marching and maneuvering, and effect scores of the day, and earned 2nd place in drum major and music.

This is the seventh Grand Champion award the band has earned in recent years. The color guard officially went 60-0 this year against competing color guards, and the marching and effect scores went 59-1. If you haven't seen them perform yet, they will do their final football performance at halftime this Friday.

Until Saturday, the band's most recent grand champion win occurred Oct. 6 at Laurens High School, where the band outscored 18 other band programs. (See attached Youtube clip from that event).

Winning all these honors takes as much work and sweat and dedication as any sport at the school requires, evidenced in this article and photo gallery from August as the band braved the heat to practice for the upcoming football and competition seasons.
