Two Greenville women were arrested Wednesday when they both allegedly assaulted a Greenville police officer as he tried to investigate an auto collision.

Johnathan Bragg, public information officer for the Greenville Police Department, said an officer responded to Haywood Mall at about 5 p.m. Wednesday to reference to a collision there, which is on private property.

The officer concluded that one of the parties involved, Megan Inabinet, was at fault. Inabinet reportedly became irate and began to use profanity at the officer. When advised to stop by the officer, Inabinet allegedly continued to swear at him, prompting him to begin to arrest her for disorderly conduct.

Inabinet began to resist the officer, according to the Greenville PD, and hit him with underneath his chin. No serious injuries were reported, though the officer did report redness and scratches.

During the incident, another woman at the scene, Andrea Butler, was also arrested for disorderly conduct. During that arrest, Butler also struck a different officer with closed fists multiple times.

Inabinet and Butler are charged with resisting arrest/assault on a police officer and disorderly conduct.
