The Greenville Police Department is investigating an assault on a police officer that occured this morning.
Johnathan Bragg, public information officer for the GPD, said that at 8:07 a.m., a Greenville Police officer conducted a field interview on a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of Eisenhower Drive and Keith Drive.
That intersection is between Pleasantburg Drive and Interstate 385.
As the officer questioned the driver of the vehicle, the subject reportedly fled from the officer, and attempted to strike him with his vehicle in the process of leaving.
Few details were available Thursday morning, as it is still an active investigation.
