Here's how Dottie Lawson. describes herself and her Grey Thursday/ Black Friday plans. Follow her adventures, and those of other Upstate shoppers, here.
First to introduce myself: I am 34 years old and my family and I have lived in Mauldin for a little over two years now. Prior to that we resided in Simpsonville. My husband and I both work full time and have two wonderful children: a very outgoing 9-year-old son and a very spunky 6-year-old daughter.
I am known in our family as the the Deal Queen, because if there is a deal out there to be had I will find it, LOL! I normally start searching for Gray Thursday/Black Friday ads in October so that I can get a head start on my planning and budgeting. I follow many bloggers on Facebook and subscribe to many online Black Friday sites such as BlackFriday.com and BradsDeals.com to find the best deals out there. Getting the early scans of the ads allows me to strategically plan my course of action.
In years past I have went out alone, with my husband (when we were able to get a babysitter) and last year I went with my mom. This year I will be going out with a really good friend of mine, Lisa.
We have been planning this for weeks now and I cannot wait. My first stop on Thursday will be Wal-Mart where I am trying to get my hands on the Dual Screen DVD player for $49 and the Blu Ray Player for $39. Originally, I had planned on getting the Nook Tablets (8gb) that were to be $99, but I found a $25 off Nook Coupon for Staples online today that allowed me to get the 16gb for the same price there.
My second stop will be Target for the Nikon Camera that will be $99, which if Walmart has I will have them price match it. We will then head to Kohl's, K-Mart and the Haywood Mall.
Although many call me crazy for "getting into that mess," I LOVE IT! Not only do I love the opportunity to provide a GREAT Christmas to my family and the great bargains, I love the craziness of the crowds and the people I meet while shopping. Granted there will be a few scrooges out there, the majority of the people I encounter every year are happy, friendly and having a great time.
